Age Care Pro: The same standard, at a corporate scale.

The story of Age Care Pro, the professional arm of Age Care Bathrooms: how a family experience grew into accessible bathrooms for care homes, councils and OTs.

If you commission accessible bathrooms, you already know how important it is to get them right. A care home cannot lose rooms for weeks at a time. A council-funded adaptation has to match the assessment and stand up to audit. A client referred by an occupational therapist needs a room built around exactly how they wash, transfer and move, not a compromise they have to work around.

This is the first post on the Age Care Pro (opens in a new tab) blog, so it is the right place to introduce ourselves.

We are the corporate arm of Age Care Bathrooms (opens in a new tab), and we design and install accessible bathrooms, wet rooms, and adaptations for the organisations that commission them: care homes, local councils and clinical teams across England and Wales. Every job is fitted by our own employed team and backed by thousands of completed installations and a 4.8-star customer rating across various review platforms, including Trustpilot, Google, and Reviews.io.

In this post, you’ll understand where we came from, who you will be dealing with, and how we can help.

Before & After Transformation | Bearwardcote Hall Care Home

Where it started

Age Care Pro exists because of something personal. Our founder and director, Sam, learned what accessible adaptations really mean from his own family: first when his grandmother Barbara, living with motor neurone disease, needed a full mobility wet room within six months, and again when his grandfather William, known as “Billy Pud”, was diagnosed with dementia. Working in the mobility bathroom trade as a subcontractor at the time, Sam and his family fitted those adaptations themselves. Living it from the inside taught him what people genuinely need and where the industry falls short: pushy sales, thin product ranges, and jobs that drag on for weeks.

So in 2018, he founded Age Care Bathrooms to do the opposite. Instead of relying on subcontractors, he built a directly employed team, so the same people who design a bathroom are accountable for fitting it. Instead of work dragging on for weeks, most bathrooms are finished in three to four days. And instead of treating customers as sales targets, the focus has always been on comfort, dignity and staying independent at home. Since then, that approach has seen well over a thousand accessible bathrooms fitted for families across England and Wales, and it has earned Age Care Bathrooms Which? Trusted Trader (opens in a new tab) status and SafeContractor approval (opens in a new tab).

Along the way, something else happened. The same care homes, councils and occupational therapists we met through that work kept coming back with bigger jobs, and the same frustration: adaptations they had commissioned were being subcontracted out, delivered late, and built to a specification that did not match the assessment. They wanted our directly employed, right first time approach, but at a professional scale and with the documentation a contract demands.

Age Care Pro (opens in a new tab) is our answer to that.

The people behind it

Two people currently anchor how Age Care Pro works day to day. The first is Sam (opens in a new tab). As founder and director, he still sets the standard the team installs to, and it is the same one he began with: do it properly, do it in-house, and stand behind it long after handover. That principle shapes every decision, from employing our fitters directly to never handing a client’s home to a subcontractor we have not met. When you work with Age Care Pro, the person whose name is on the company is accountable for the result.

The second is Jason Greig (opens in a new tab), our Business Development Manager and, for most professional clients, the first person you will speak to. Jason brings more than 25 years of experience in business development and account management, much of it spent turning complex organisational requirements into solutions that actually get delivered. That experience includes compliance-heavy public-sector work: in one role, he managed the council relationships, bids and compliance behind a service transporting up to 300 children with special educational needs to school each day. At Age Care Pro, his job is to make working with us straightforward, understanding what an occupational therapist, care home or council team actually needs, turning it into a clear scope and quote, and staying with the project so you always have one named contact.

The Age Care Pro Team

Who we support

Age Care Pro works with three types of clients. The work is different in each case, but the standard behind it never changes: our own employed, DBS-checked team, no subcontractors, fully insured, and everything documented.

Care homes

We adapt washrooms and en-suites across a home or a whole group (opens in a new tab), working room by room, so residents are never left without provisions. A typical wet room takes around five days, with infection-control surfaces, easy-clean finishes and dignified design, all fitted around your care routines and ready for CQC inspection.

Local councils and housing teams

We deliver Disabled Facilities Grant adaptations to specification (opens in a new tab), on time and on budget, with full documentation and sign-off that your audit trail depends on. We work to the occupational therapists’ measurements and hand over evidence you can stand behind.

Occupational therapists and case managers

We turn your clinical assessment into a bathroom (opens in a new tab) built around how one person actually transfers, turns, reaches and washes. You stay in the loop from survey to handover, and the finished room matches the spec you signed off on, not the nearest catalogue option.

Proven in the field

The clearest way to show how we work is the work itself.

Horsfall House

Horsfall House (opens in a new tab), a care home with three bathrooms that no longer worked for residents, we ran a phased programme, one room at a time, for around five days each, with zero resident downtime throughout the job. Each room was handed back finished before we started the next: full-height wall panels, a secure shower chair with half-height carer doors, grab rails, non-slip flooring and upgraded lighting throughout.

Norse

For Norse and their local authority DFG work, we take referrals straight off the schedule, survey the property, and install to council specification, completing on time and handing over with the documentation and any audit sign-off required. It is why the referrals keep coming through.

OT Partnership

For a recent Occupational Therapist partnership, we designed a wheelchair-accessible bathroom entirely around the assessment: a wall-hung basin at chair height, a level-access shower with a fold-down seat for an assisted transfer, and controls and rails placed where the client could actually reach them. Every decision was checked back against the OT’s notes before anything was ordered.

We have also recently filmed Gavin Nickson of Bearwardcote Hall Care Home (opens in a new tab) talking through what the work meant for his residents and staff.

Let’s talk about your project

Whether you manage a care home, commission DFG adaptations for a council, or refer clients as an occupational therapist, the promise is the one Sam started with: do it properly, do it in-house, and stand behind it, from a single bathroom to a whole estate.

If you have a project, a site or a client in mind, the simplest place to start is a conversation with Jason. He will listen to and understand your requirements, and where his experience suggests a better product or approach, he'll explain why so you can make an informed choice. He'll then arrange a survey and 3D design so you can see the room before you commit, and stay with the project from first contact to sign-off.
